The quality policy of the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia is defined by the political bodies of the University. Cascading down into the departments, it is defined, given the University guidelines, by the respective political governing bodies.
The Departmental Quality Commission has operational responsibility for Quality Assurance (QA) at the departmental level.

Tasks

The QA supervisor provides liaison between the University Quality Presidium (UQP) and peripheral structures (Department, CdS, CPDS). It provides support and advice in the area of Quality Assurance (QA) of Education, Research and Third Mission/Social Impact.

The QA supervisor is appointed by the Department Council upon the proposal of the Director, after consultation with the UQP. The position is incompatible with the position of Chair (or equivalent figure) of CdS, CPDS member, Director/President of Department/Faculty. The position has a three-year term and is renewable consecutively once.

The QA supervisor is supported by a Departmental Quality Commission that represents, therefore, the Departmental Quality Presidium.

The QA supervisor, assisted by the Quality Commission, has, in particular, the following tasks:

  • carry out QA training and information activities for Department staff;
  • monitor the proper conduct of the activities included in the Departmental Three-Year Plans and Departmental Research and Third Mission review activities;
  • monitor the educational activities of the CdSs, with special emphasis on incoming orientation, mentoring and actions to solve problems raised by students;
  • provide advice and support to Department Directors in drafting the Departmental Three-Year Plan (currently incorporates the SUA-RD) and in drafting the Annual Monitoring and Review Report;
  • provide advice and support to the CdSs in drafting the SUA-CdS, SMA, RAMAQ-CdS and RRC;
  • provide advice and support to the CPDS in the preparation of the annual report;
  • provide advice and support for teaching organization (e.g., coverage of referring faculty, distribution of teaching load).
