For the three-year period 2024-2027, Prof. Massimo Dominici is the Director of the Department, Prof. Fabio Catani the Vice Director.
The Department Council, in accordance with the University Regulations and the general criteria set by the Statute and the Board of Directors, performs the following functions, referring to the different areas of the Department's life:
- elections and appointments
- planning the development of the Department
- organization and coordination of research
- organization and management of teaching and training
- management of the Department
The Board is chaired by the Director of the Department.
The Executive Committee, appointed by the Department Council on the proposal of the Director, assists the Director, with investigative, coordinating and decision-making functions within the limits of the delegation conferred on it. The composition of the Executive Committee, its powers and functioning are governed by the Department Regulations.
The Joint Teachers-Student Committee is composed of an equal number of teachers and students, in accordance with the procedures established by the Faculty Council. Where possible, the student component shall be representative of the various courses of study pertaining to the Departments linked to the Faculty.

The Steering Committee has the task of contributing, with an external and non-self-referential gaze, to the definition of the Department's medium - to long-term objectives, both on the teaching and research and dissemination sides,to the evaluation of the effectiveness of the Department's activities with respect to the needs and expectations of the context in which it operates.
